IKEA can bite me

I went to IKEA on Thursday and bought this bench with fun green and white buckets for the Beast's room -- much cuter than the picture on the website.  Of course, while assembling, I totally broke it.  Split the top with my she-man strength.  Who knew I was so burly?

So back to IKEA on Friday with 2.5 year old in tow (who was surprisingly awesome, btw), to return it, and picked this step-wise bench up instead, with a variety of white, green, pink and red buckets.  I busted open the package today, and the first pieces I tried to assemble DON'T FIT TOGETHER.  AT ALL.  The drilled holes on one of the pieces are off by a half an inch, meaning whatever I do, this stupid bench cannot be assembled. 

Bad luck, or a sign that I shouldn't be buying DIY cheap pine furniture from the Swedes?  I'm totally done with this IKEA option. 

On a much happier note, have you seen the slouch-tacular Porom by Jared Flood?  I bought some Malabrigo Silky Merino in Amoroso (red/oranges) this morning, and hope to cast on later today.  I heard the Silky Merino is to die for, so I'm looking forward to working it.

I registered for Lapland Hand Garments with Susanna Hansson.  I believe a couple of knitting group folks took this class last year and loved it, so looking forward to checking it out!

It's been a rough few months over these ways, but knitting, amongst other projects, has been happening.  I've been OK with keeping my Ravelry project page and queue up to date, but the blog, not so much.  We'll see if I can pull it together,...
