I got a wild hair and baked muffins the other morning, courtesy of Amy's recipe over at Angry Chicken. I had all the ingredients on hand, and Miss H. uncharacteristically slept in until 8:30, so it was a quick and tasty pre-breakfast whip up. The chocolate chips really make the recipe, and my addition of walnuts did it for me in a big way.
The weather really heated up mid-week, and I came home to find the daughter and the babysitter hanging out in front of the house playing in the water table, with Miss H. working it ghetto style in her diaper and very cool hat. Such a styley hat, in fact, that I'm currently attempting to knock it off and make her some more!
Yesterday was a day full of errands and roasted corn from the farmers' market:
And a fragrant evening testing out a new recipe for aloo gobi with organic cauliflower, potatoes and tomatoes from our day's shopping:
Tasty! Next on the list is finding a good recipe for saag aloo (aka aloo palak) that's as good as the hole in the wall Pakistani place in the Mission in San Francisco. It'll never happen, but a girl can dream, can't she?
Today brought me a most pleasant morning with the daughter, standing at the kitchen counter -- actually, I was standing, she was perched on her Tower (love it! Highly recommend it.) -- alternately knitting, snacking on tasty pluots, and "aminal-ingah" playing.
Life is sweet,...
