poncho,... CHECK!
Do you like the "Welllllcome to Jamaica" pose? Am I totally dating myself or what?
ANYWAY, to recap, the poncho pattern is from the Rowan Plaid book, and knit out of Stahl Landgraf yarn from elann. After seaming it up, I realized that the poncho came out a little long for my taste / height, so I ended up chopping off a pattern repeat at the bottom (couldn't just frog as the piece is knit from the bottom up) and casting off. I finished the neck edge with single crochet, and may go over it again later with a crab stitch.
The yarn was easy to work with, and the pattern was straightforward. I'm fairly certain that there is a typo in the directions for the poncho front (anyone else run into that problem?), though I couldn't find errata published anywhere on the Web for this book.
The only thing I'm not so sweet on is the neckline. It's a bit wider than I'd like. If it really starts to bug me I'll pull it apart and add a pattern repeat, but I'm really not inclined to do that anytime soon!
All in all, yeah! A snuggly poncho for me,...
Alright! Great poncho. I love that design. It came out very well with the yarn you used. Good idea to shorten it. With all that fringe it would have been at your knees! Hope you love wearing it. :)

You can knit that poncho from the neck down on circular needles. That way you can make your neckline whatever size you want and try it on as you go, and make it any length. I made a bunch of those this winter, and still get requests.

Which pattern did you use for the poncho? Is it a book? I am just a beginner and would love to do a poncho but looking for a one color, easy pattern to use...any tips?
Thanks,
Mel

Hi there. I'm almost done with the back of my Zephyr poncho. I'm using a Lopi chunky yarn called Alafoss lopi. It is knitting to the correct gauge but I think it looks heavier than the Plaid yarn in the picture. What did you think the mistake in the Poncho front pattern was? I'm going to start the front this weekend for sure. Thanks. Eliz

Where can I purchase this pattern? I love it! I even like the length!
Thanks, Terry
