Gratuitous Yarn Pics
Below is some of the yarn I bought over the weekend for a shawl and washcloths:
I went a little crazy with the chenille -- I bought five skeins even though I wasn't sure if I'd like working with it.
I'd give it an O.K. rating -- don't love it, don't hate it. The yarn twists and kinks a bit, which is annoying, but I'm confident that the final outcome will outweigh the hassle factor.
I also cast on for the mohair shawl. The yarn isn't as soft as I'd like, but I think the color and color transitions are going to look great! It's hard to tell from the photo, but the yarn is charcoal gray, black and navy -- yum!
I'm not sure what it is with me and shawls. I love them, enjoy making them, but never wear them. I'm going to have to work on that!
A happy and safe holiday weekend to all! I'm hitting the road tomorrow morning at an ungodly early hour to spend the long weekend with my family. Bay area traffic is kinda horrific, but it most definitely will be worth it! I have the new David Sedaris Live at Carnegie Hall CD -- so that should help to burn some time through the wind-y, country roads.
